Development Sessions

We believe Mentor Coaching is vital to develop as a coach. In Mentor Coaching an experienced MCC or PCC coach listens to your coaching and gives you feedback to boost your development. This is an extremely effective way to develop, and after one Mentor Coaching Session you will usually have a lot to practice going forward. To maximize your development, we encourage having Mentor Coaching at the right time, spreading the sessions and practicing in between.

 

Development Sessions  

We call our Mentor Coaching Development Sessions, because that is what they truly are, a highly effective way to improve your coaching. A Development Session with LEARN Coaching includes:

Before the session:

  • The Mentor Coach listens to your coaching (by recording or live), 30 min

  • The Mentor Coach prepares feedback for you in writing. 

In the actual session (45-60 min):

  • The Mentor Coach engages in reflection with you on how effective your coaching was, your strengths as a coach, and areas for development.

  • The Mentor Coach gives you clear and honest feedback. The feedback will highlight what you do well and some recommendations for how your coaching can be even more effective.

  • The Mentor Coach will help you design how you can practice to improve your skills. You will get the feedback in writing.

  • You get a chance to calibrate your coaching with ICF criteria.

  • The Mentor Coach will reflect with you on where you are in your journey as a coach, what your next steps can be, and what support you need. You will be encouraged to create an action plan going forward.

We offer single Development Sessions that students and affiliates can purchase when they like. Our recommendation is that once you have 25-30 hours coaching practice it is a great time to book your first Development Session/ Mentor Coaching. As you continue your journey towards mastery in coaching you can book Development Sessions whenever you want to boost or invest in your coaching. You will develop!

 

Mentor Coaching in the LEARN Coaching Curriculum

In LEARN Self-Leadership and Coaching we demonstrate coaching extensively. We also teach and practice coaching skills. Our participants are observed as they coach, and they get written feedback. 

We encourage participants to practice coaching outside the training. We believe that Mentor Coaching is most valuable for coaches that are practicing coaching with actual clients. 

Potential students for LEARN Coaching Advanced need to complete one Development Session to be admitted. We will only admit students to LEARN Coaching Advanced that have come far enough in their development to be ready for the course. The Development Session has great value for students also if we together reach the conclusion that they will benefit from some more practice before starting their LEARN Coaching Advanced journey.

In our curriculum Mentor Coaching belongs to LEARN Coaching Advanced – and upon completing LCA each student will have 3 individual Mentor Coaching hours, and 7 group Mentor Coaching hours.

Mentor Coaching 1: Individual: Development Session upon application to course

Mentor Coaching 2-8: Group Mentor Coaching (full day virtually)

Mentor Coaching 9-10: Individual; Two different clients, during the Coaching Project in LCA

Payment per Development Session: NOK 6 600,- (ex VAT).
