Our Story
We are Jenny & Toril, the founders of LEARN Coaching.
We met through our shared love for coaching and a deep curiosity about how learning actually happens, and what it takes for lasting change to occur. From the beginning, our conversations often returned to the same questions: What helps people become more aware of what guides them? How do values, assumptions, strengths, and deeper drivers influence the way we lead, relate, choose, and act?
Over time, these questions became central to what we now call the Internal Compass.
Throughout the years, we have had countless conversations about learning, development, and human potential. We have shared experiences from our work with clients, explored challenges together, learned from our failures, exchanged ideas, discussed emerging research, and continuously challenged each other to see new perspectives.
We have worked to develop, to deliver, to learn, and to grow.
Together, we have more than 50 years of combined experience in leadership development, coaching, and training. We have served as faculty for other coaching schools, taught leadership and coaching within organisations, coached thousands of leaders, and worked with clients across three continents.
While our experience is extensive, what continues to unite us is a shared commitment to quality, professionalism, curiosity, and continuous learning.
We still consider ourselves learners, and often say that we will stop teaching the day we stop learning.
Courage to Create Change
We love engaging with other skilled coaches, and we are grateful for the community and learning opportunities provided by the International Coaching Federation. ICF has played a vital role in establishing ethical and professional standards for the coaching profession.
Representing the Norwegian and Swedish chapters, we have worked together on several ICF initiatives and projects. Our dream of creating a learning experience that never compromises on quality was strengthened while we were hosting the 2014 ICF Conference in Malmö: Courage to Create Change – Coaching for a Sustainable Future.
Building LEARN
Our commitment to quality and our curiosity about how people and organisations learn, grow, and create impact in a changing world became the starting point for LEARN.
Throughout our careers, we have observed that meaningful development requires more than knowledge alone. Lasting growth is supported by awareness, reflection, practice, feedback, and real-life application. We wanted to build learning experiences that actively engage participants in their own development, connect insight with experience, and support the translation of awareness into action.
Taking a holistic and systemic approach, these insights evolved into both the Internal Compass and the LEARN Model. Together, they translate our understanding of learning and development into a practical framework for individuals, teams, and organisations, inspired by Scandinavian perspectives on learning, leadership, and human development.
Today, LEARN supports organisations, leaders, coaches, and aspiring coaches through leadership development, self-leadership programmes, coaching skills training, and professional coach education.
