Beyond the Diagnosis: A Practical Tool for Coaching and Leading Neurodivergent People

Many coaches and leaders are already working with neurodivergent individuals—whether neurodivergence is part of the person's identity or not. Today's workforce consists of people with different neurotypes, strengths, and ways of processing information. When leaders adopt a neuro-affirmative approach, they create environments that are more inclusive, engaging, and effective for everyone—not only for neurodivergent employees.
In this engaging session, we will explore what neuro-affirmative coaching and leadership look like in practice, and how an executive functioning perspective can provide valuable insight when someone says, “I know what I should do, I just can’t seem to do it.” You will gain a clearer language for understanding and describing patterns you may already observe in clients, colleagues, team members, or even yourself.
You will also be introduced to a visual self‑assessment tool called the Executive Function Wheel. It takes the core executive function domains and turns them into something you can see, reflect on, and use as a starting point for conversation, either with yourself, your team, or your clients.
This session is designed for coaches, leaders, HR professionals, and anyone interested in strengthening their understanding of neurodiversity and creating more inclusive, supportive, and effective workplaces.
There will also be an opportunity to give and receive developmental feedback together with fellow coaches.
LEARN Alumni & Friends is a place for reflection, practice, and professional development while reconnecting with members of the LEARN community. The event is open to everyone, and ICF members will receive CCE credits for participating.
Practical Information
We will meet participants in the main reception at Equinor from 08:25 and walk together to the conference room. Please remember to bring a valid photo ID, as it is required to access the building. Please arrive no later than 08:55, so that we can begin the program promptly at 09:00.
The professional program runs from 09:00 to 12:00. From 08:30, there will be an opportunity to network and connect with fellow participants before the session begins.
We will conclude the event with a lunch wrap in the conference room, followed by informal networking from 12:15 to 13:00.
Language
The presentation and course materials will be in English. During discussions, group exercises, and practice sessions, both English and Norwegian may be used, allowing participants to contribute in the language they are most comfortable with.
Venue and Transportation
Equinor's office is located at Fornebu, just outside Oslo.
From Oslo city centre, you can take bus 31, 31E, or 81 to the IT Fornebu stop (approximately 25 minutes). From there, it is about a five-minute walk to the Equinor building.
If you are travelling by car, public parking is available at the parking garage beneath Scandic Fornebu and at the Technopolis parking garage. We recommend allowing extra time for parking and registration upon arrival.
