Brief description of my Internal Compass
My Internal Compass brings together the values and strengths that guide how I meet people, make decisions, and create change.
At its core are my Values: Caring, Authenticity, Respect – for others as well as myself – Harmony, Joy, Mastery, and a strong sense of Purpose.
My resources (CliftonStrengths) – Learner, Achiever, Arranger, Intellection and Positivity – help me turn these values into action.
My North Star is: “Grounded in my values, I create movement and change that inspires.”
Reflection on how I use it
Creating my Internal Compass has been a real eye-opener. Looking back, it almost feels as if I have been navigating without a compass – having these values and strengths all along, but without being fully conscious of how powerful they can be when I use them deliberately.
Recently, I experienced this in a professional relationship where I found myself becoming frustrated by someone’s way of communicating and sharing their competence. By consciously returning to my values, I challenged my own perspective. Instead of focusing on what irritated me, I started recognizing the confidence, knowledge, and willingness to contribute behind the behaviors.
When I was later asked to give feedback, I could genuinely acknowledge these qualities as strengths and encourage their continued use in collaboration with others.
For me, this is my compass in practice: Consciously choosing my perspective and how I want to show up.
